Chasing Clouds, the art of blowing Huge Clouds of Vapor.

Blowing huge clouds or chasing the clouds. Means you exhale a large amount of vapor after inhaling deeply on your vaporizer. Most Vaporizers a vaper uses can achieve this by using an e-liquid higher in vegetable glycerine. This is because the higher VG based e-liquid allows for a larger cloud of vapor to be exhaled.

The Origins

Although we don’t know where this method of vaping started. We speculate that some vapers, seeking some excitement got together and experimented on various types of e-liquids. Cloud chasing has since become very popular.

Whilst some vapers prefer to cloud chase recreationally. Other vapers challenge for the bid to become the largest cloud chaser. Creating and entering competitions for the honour to become the largest cloud chaser. 

Competitive Professional Vapers.

We consider cloud chasing vapers as professional vapers and they like to go by the term cloud gazers. Others simply enjoy being a spectator. Most of these competitions do have sponsors using product baskets, such as vape gear (vaporizers, e-liquids, pods etc) as prizes. It is also not uncommon to receive cash and marketing gear. Prizes are based on skill and size. Judges stand in awe of vapers who blow the most huge clouds or perform the most impressive tricks. The biggest vapor cloud exceeds 6 feet.

Tricks and Styles

There are various creative ways to exhale vapor for cloud chasing professionals to explore. Common tricks like “The Dragon”. You must exhale from your nostrils and the sides of your mouth at the same time. Tricks such as “Pushing the O”. You must by blow rings of vapor which you can manipulate with your hands into multiple rings or various shapes and sizes.

Using large amounts of e-liquid at these events is common during these competitions. You need a good sponsor of e-liquid to keep personal costs low.

Doing this in public is considered to be poor etiquette by many vapers and non-vapers alike. Large amounts of clouds are created, it is clear and fortunate for cloud chasing that their sport is here to stay.

Vapor production

The majority of vapers go for sub ohm tanks or rebuildable atomizers for producing more vapor. Cig-a-likes generate considerably less vapor compared to customized mods. Customized mods generate considerably more vapor compared to basic ‘eGo’ type devices. A higher power setting by using a variable voltage device increases vapor volume. Increasing airflow over the coil increasing vapor output. This requires an atomizer with an adjustable airflow. For vapers using sub ohm tanks or rebuildables with plenty of airflow, inhaling kind of quickly gets better results from the airflow. When the airflow is open wide, it creates thin and weak vapor. The way the vaper inhales can affect the vapor production. Before exhaling cloud-chasers inhale directly into the lungs as opposed to mouth-to-lung inhaling by most vapers.
