What is a Vaporizer?

A vaporizer is a device used to gently and immediately heat aromatherapy blends in order to create vapor. The vapor produced by a vaporizer consists of water vapor as well as essential oils. A vaporizer never combusts the aromatherapy blend. This helps prevent you from inhaling hazardous particles that could be detrimental to your health.

How the Heating Works

Vaporizers employ several different methods for creating vapor. Firstly, all the methods rely on transferring heat through the aromatherapy blend. How the heat is transferred through this head, is the difference.

Conduction Heating

Specifically, conduction heating is the traditional way of heating a material. These firstly, apply direct heat to the aromatherapy blend and secondly, use temperature control in order to prevent combustion. One places the aromatherapy blend into a ceramic, stainless steel or glass heating chamber. The walls of the chamber will become super-heated and consequently, transfer the heat directly to the aromatherapy blend. The heat produced regulates the combustion and allows for you to adjust the strength. Some vaporizers let the user control the amount of heat applied. Some use pre-configured temperature levels and the most basic vaporizers apply constant heat. This is in direct contrast to convection heating

Convection Heating

Convection vaporizers firstly, use radiant heat and secondly,  hot air in order to produce vapor. To avoid you accidentally vaporizing something. The source of the heat is kept separate from the aromatherapy blend. A convection vaporizer employs a super-heated air approach. This consequently, pushes the aromatherapy blend through on demand. Further more, the super-heated air passes through the blend, creating water vapor. Similarly, the water vapor contains suspended essential oils from the aromatherapy blend. Besides using hot air, other convection methods include: halogen light bulbs, radiant heat production and electromagnetism.

There are four main types of vaporizers:

  • E-Cigarettes

E-cigarettes are vaporizers that look similar to cigarettes. They use replaceable cartridges that contain e-liquid. Consequently, e-cigs are perfect for someone who has little experience vaping or wants to have a look and feel that’s familiar.

  • Pocket Vapes

Pocket vapes are smaller devices that you can take with you anywhere. They are easy to use and also offer better vapor production in contrast to e-cigarettes.

  • Pen Vaporizers

Pen vaporizers are vapes that come in a spherical shape and resemble a pen. They have two main parts, an atomizer and a battery. The Atomizer is where you place your E-liquid. The atomizer is firstly heated by the battery to produce vapor.

  • Box Mod Vaporizers

Box mods are the most advanced and complicated type of vaporizer. They feature a large battery box and a digital screen used to change the settings of the vaporizer. Box mods are great if you want to maximize the amount of vapor you’re inhaling. They do require you to adjust some manual settings. We recommend box mods for all you more experienced vapers.
